A second black & white photograph for you today, taken a couple of days ago in Fyfield. This seagull decided it was time to fly home, even if that meant heading straight into a storm.

I think the title says it all! This female blackbird was photographed next to Doctors Pond in Great Dunmow earlier this year.

We ventured outside the county borders today and had a trip to the seaside. We originally intended visiting Southwold, indeed we got to Southwold, drove into the absolutely packed car park and drove straight out again, the place was thronged! So, we pottered down the coast to Aldeburgh. Aldeburgh was also pretty thronged…but not quite so badly as Southwold!

We had some excellent fish and chips followed by a very nice ice cream 😉 Whilst eating the ice cream I took this picture which kind of encapsulates many facets of the British seaside.

If you’ve ever been to Great Dunmow you’ll know that, on Doctors Pond, we don’t only have ducks, but also a flock of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis). This lot make a real racket, honking away, and they do like a good hissing fight!

This shot was taken back in the beginning of February first thing in the morning, and it was cold!

In this post one duck actually, a female mallard who allowed me to photograph her earlier this year. It wasn’t my intention to use this image today, but a friend of mine saw a print of the picture and loved it and I know he was trying to find a copy of it on Flickr – well Mick, in case you’re still looking – here you go.
