This spider had caught a flying ant in his web and was moving in for his dinner. When I looked at this photograph on the computer it immediately brought to mind a lady tied up on the railtracks with the train bearing down on her that you used to see in the silent movies…there was no escape for the flying ant.
Debbie spotted this Longhorn Beetle flying to this plant – what a great bug. No hoverflies were harmed in the making of this photograph.
This was the first of many new bugs (to me) spotted today – more below
Spotted on the ceiling in the lounge this evening – as always – don’t take my IDs as gospel…I regularly get them wrong 😉
Tuesday night is Camera Club night and we found ourselves at Hopleys garden centre in Much Hadham. It was a lovely evening, although I do accept you wouldn’t necessarily know that from this shot…still 😉
As always, take my ID with a pinch of salt – if you know that I’m wrong do let me know 😉
I have been trying to get an inflight dragonfly for some time and I finally got one today whilst walking through Rowney Woods. Typically, having failed a number of times previously I managed to get 4 or 5 of them today!
A nice, simple shot for today – apple straight from the fruit bowl with a texture applied in photoshop.
When I saw this very large crop of bulrushes it immediately got me thinking about Game of Thrones and heads on spikes and knew I wanted to get a shot of these from below to give a more overpowering feel to the picture. These, if you didn’t know, have gone to seed – hence all the “down” that creates that impaled look.
The buddleia has now come into flower in the back garden and the butterflies are taking full advantage of it. At one point we had four of these small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) feeding on one flower – trouble was there was quite a breeze which was freaking them out so catching them proved to be quite tricky…
Another macro from the garden – plenty going on out there at the moment.
