Another glorious day meant it was way to hot to venture out until 8.00pm in the evening. With sunset not until 9.20pm that’s not such a problem, the woods were still really dark with the heavy summer canopy blocking out much of the sunlight…so, this is a public footpath we (still) haven’t followed across the field of barley. I haven’t done any HDR for a while – so it was nice to run this shot through Photomatix to create this shot.
A very pleasant day out at Petworth House down in Sussex rather spoiled by a dreadful journey home that culminated in us having to drive through Central London (although we did get to see Tower Bridge rather closer than we had wanted!). The A3 and M25 really do leave a lot to be desired!
A had an early evening potter around Great Dunmow and got this shot of a tree bridging the River Chelmer.
Sunrise was one of those straight yellow/orange glow affairs due to the lack of any clouds in the sky this morning, so I turned 180° and photographed this pill box and the glowing sky behind me which looked a lot more interesting. Now, I have photographed this particular Pill Box (just behind the new Graveyard at the rear of Dunmow Church), but I’ve never had a strong enough photograph to publish…is it strong enough today…possibly not…but it’s the best I have 😉 and sometimes, that’s good enough.
I visited the Boat Show at Excel today with work…there’s some money sloshing around that exhibition!
I popped out to catch sunset down the Thames towards Canary Wharf in a 5 image panorama.
Well that was all a disappointment…Snow, Snow, Snow, ran the headlines, weather warnings galore…and we go about a mm of snow – admittedly, there would have been much more if the rain that preceded the snow by about 3 hours had arrived later…then we would probably have had something to talk about!
When I got out of bed an hour before dawn I was somewhat underwhelmed when I looked out the window, still, I got up and went for my normal walk around Dunmow. I could see the cloud moving in and picked up the pace to make sure I reached Doctors Pond bang on sunrise and I was (for once) rewarded with a cracker. Hope you enjoy!
We popped out to Rowney Woods this morning for a walk. Whilst there were some pretty threatening clouds around the sun did periodically make an appearance as it did in this shot as we were leaving the woods, lighting up the young oak tree at the entrance.
A favourite subject on my early morning walk…
A somewhat abandoned lean to I saw earlier today.
The Church at East Bergholt in Suffolk was due to have a bell tower built in 1525, however, due to a lack of money this was never completed so a bell cage was built in 1531 to house the bells – this image shows the bells within the cage –
