This weeks edition is available now here:
You can see this week’s epsiode of Choirboy to Punk here –
Every year we have an evening of burning wire wool and creating spark pictures with the Bishop’s Stortford Camera Club. I saw this treatment pretty quickly because it reminded me of The Specials AKA 7″ cover for their single The Boiler…
Its rainy and miserable outside so I was definitely staying in for today’s photograph, so I had a rummage through my desk draws and found my bag of button badges. I still wear badges, particularly on my Harrington jacket, but I always feeling that I am having a real throw back to my youth – not just because almost all the badges are the same as I used to wear when I was 14. Badges were always a great cheap way of showing allegiance to the groups at the time when I had almost no money, and what little I had went on (7 inch) records and lime green socks!
Shown here are, amongst others, The Stranglers, The Clash, Crass, The Dead Kennedys, Conflict, Alternative, The Chords and The Specials.
Tonight I will be at The Specials concert at the Alexandra Palace and am really looking forward to it. I was a rude boy at the age of 12 or 13 and was really into The Specials but never saw them live first time round. So it was great when they reformed for their 30th Anniversary a couple of years ago. It was a great night and I’m sure tonight will be great as well. This shot was taken on my tiny Canon Powershot point and shoot and came out better than I had expected. This was taken on the second round of gigs the band played in 2009 at the Hammersmith Apollo.
