yellow

Is it a hoverfly, is it a sawfly, is it something else? I don’t know, but the flower is definitely a yellow iris.

A nice abstract from oil and water…when I next do this I will ensure I get the lens square to the surface of the water which will keep the oil drops in better focus. More images after the break:

I was chatting with a friend at our camera club this evening. He is also doing a 365 this year and he was telling me about how he had taken loads of pictures but just didn’t like what he got. This happens to me all the time…and of course, I got home after camera club and hit the exact same problem.

I had a great idea for this picture…but couldn’t get it to work no matter what, but as I explained to my friend, the very fact that you have got the camera out and tried means you have succeeded…you won’t produce an award winner every day (week/month or year in my case 😉 ), but that is unrealistic. The aim of these 365 projects (for me at least) is to keep me photographing…if I stop, then I barely get the camera out, and that’s a bad thing!

So – you may (or may not based on this first effort!) see this car and its green Porsche friend in upcoming shots…fingers crossed!

I recently got a new phone – a Galaxy S7 (not the version that spontaneously self-combusts 😉 ) and have finally got around to setting it up with Lightroom Mobile and the ability to shoot Raw images. It took me forever (due to my inability to read instructions) to work out how to get the edited images from the phone into my desktop version of Lightroom…but managed in the end (and still haven’t read the instructions…result 😉 )

I have no idea how this leaf managed to get itself stuck to the trunk of this tree, but I am grateful that it did as you don’t often see a leaf that is orange, yellow and green all at once.

Red,  Yellow, Green, these leaves just across the road from our house are showing off the colours of Autumn beautifully.

Horrible weather found me mooching around the workshop for a subject. It really was the colours that caught my eye and the repetition…I have no idea what the plugs are used for (other than it will be electrical…possibly)

298/366 The Red Theme Continues

I wasn’t intending this to become a series of pictures featuring the colour red…but this is the third shot in 3 days. This shot is also significant (to me anyway) as it means I have caught up with my publishing of my 366 shots. I have been shooting everyday but the publishing had fallen behind, mainly because of our weeks holiday where I was shooting as normal, but didn’t have any computer with me to process the images.

So, back home now and caught up – though I do have hundreds of images still waiting to be processed 😉

Today’s picture is of some leaves I found tonight in the back garden.

Red and Yellow Leaves

033/366 Spent

Quite often, I’m finding, the more spur of the moment an idea for a photograph is the more enjoyable it is.

I really didn’t want to be bothered today, I really didn’t. I couldn’t think of anything to photograph and couldn’t be bothered even to open my emergency list of ideas for such moments. I saw these old batteries languishing in the back of my desk draw and thought – “That’ll do”. Took the picture…Then messed with the yellow in Lightroom to make it really stand out…….then into Photoshop and make everything black and white except the yellow – and I’m all enthused again 😉

I’m well aware that this technique is clichéd now…but do you know what? I don’t care – the whole process made me far happier than it had any right to do and for that, I’m glad!

Spent - Black and White photograph with a splash of colour!
