I had my first go at focus stacking this evening – that is to take a macro shot that is in focus throughout the image. It’s my wife’s birthday today and she got (amongst many other things) a Moth Orchid or Phalaenopsis Orchid to give its proper name which was the perfect subject to start on.
This image is made up of 8 shots all stitched together in Helicon Focus 5.2. It was taken with my Nikon 105mm macro lens with a 32mm extension tube. The original composition was rubbish so it’s been heavily cropped and I had to photoshop out the obligatory cat hairs that had somehow got in there!
Maybe I’ll take a normal picture of the flower tomorrow.
